Elizabeth Ives School is a small, State of Connecticut Department of Education approved, non-profit, special education therapeutic day school that is located in North Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1963, we service students from the ages of five to 21, who come to us with a wide variety of needs, including social emotional disturbances, learning issues, language issues, intellectual disabilities, mild spectrum disorders and more. We work closely with families and providers in order to develop the right mix of therapeutic and academic strategies necessary for success.
Student referrals come to us from all over South Central Connecticut and beyond. The majority of referrals come from local public school systems. We also get referrals from outside providers and parents.

Inclement weather announcements are posted on WTNH-Channel 8, NBCConnecticut-Channel 4, and WFSB-Channel 3. An announcement will be made and we would likely go virtual on inclement weather days, unless there are issues with power and internet. "Virtual" will appear on the news station's announcements. These are also available online at:
Parents and guardians can also sign up for closing, delay, and early dismissal alerts on the websites. Once signed up, you will be notified by text of any closings, delays, and/or move to virtual from in person instruction.

From North via CT-15
Take CT-15 S
Proceed to Exit 63 toward CT-22/N Haven for 0.1 mi
Follow Bishop St to State Street (0.7 mi)
Turn left onto Hartford Turnpike (285 ft)
Turn left onto Bishop Street for 0.3 mi
Turn right onto State Street for 0.3 miles. Destination will be on the right, shortly past stop sign.
From South via CT-15
Take CT-15 N to exit 63 - CT-22 towards New Haven (0.2 mi)
Take a right at end of exit.
Drive to light at intersection of CT-22 and State Street.
Take a right on to State Street. After stop sign, school is 1/4 mile down on the right.
From North via I-91
Take I-91S towards New Haven to exit 10-CT-40 toward Mount Carmel/Hamden (0.3 mi)
Continue on CT-40 North Connector to State St (1.4 mi)
Take exit 1 toward US-5/State St/Dixwell Ave/Hamden (0.2 mi)
Turn right onto Devine Street (0.1 mi)
Turn left at light at intersection onto State Street. School is approximately 6/10ths of a mile down the road on the left.
From South via I-95 to I-91
Follow I-95 N to I-91 N to CT-22 W/US-5 S/Clintonville Road in North Haven. (30.8 mi)
Take exit 11 for CT-22 toward N Haven (0.2 mi)
Turn left on CT-22 W to intersection at State Street.
Turn left on State Street. Pass through stop sign. School is 1/4 mile from here on right.
